Privacy Policy

Account information. You can use Pause anonymously. The app creates a private account for you without requiring an email address or name. If you choose to link an email, we store only what's needed to manage your account.

Journal content. Your journeys, dreams, and free writing entries are encrypted on your device before they ever leave it. We store the encrypted data, but we do not hold the keys needed to read it.

Usage and device data. We collect basic technical information (device type, operating system, app version, and crash or performance logs) to keep the app reliable.

Purchase information. Subscriptions (Pause Plus) are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made, but never your payment card details.

We use the information above to operate and maintain the app, sync your encrypted content across devices, send reminders you've opted into, respond to support requests, and diagnose bugs and crashes.

Your entries are encrypted on your device using a key derived from a 12-word recovery phrase that only you hold. This means we cannot read your journeys, dreams, or free writes, and we cannot recover them for you if the recovery phrase is lost, so keep it somewhere safe.

If you enable a PIN or biometric lock, that adds a further layer of protection on the device itself.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run Pause (such as cloud hosting and payment processing through Apple and Google), and only to the extent required for them to provide that service, or when required by law.

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings. Because your content is encrypted with a key only you hold, deleting or losing your recovery phrase makes that content permanently unreadable, including to us.

Pause is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. Most of these actions are available directly in the app's Settings. For anything else, contact us using the details below.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app before they take effect.
