Delete your account and data

Last updated: July 27, 2026

This page explains how to delete your Pause account and everything stored with it. You can do it yourself inside the app, or ask us to do it for you. You do not need the app installed, or access to your account, to make the request.

1. Delete it yourself, in the app

Open Pause and go to Settings, then choose Delete account. To confirm, you type the email address on your account, or the word DELETAR if you use Pause without an email.

The deletion runs immediately and permanently. There is no grace period and no way to undo it, so export anything you want to keep first.

2. Ask us to delete it

If you have uninstalled the app, lost access to your account, or would simply rather we handle it, email hello@include.agency with the subject "Delete my account".

Write from the email address linked to your Pause account when you can, since it lets us confirm the request is yours. If your account has no email linked, tell us as much as you remember about it and we will work with you to identify it.

We confirm every request by reply, and complete the deletion within 30 days of receiving it.

3. What gets deleted

Your account and profile, including your name and email address if you linked one.

All of your written content: journey entries, dreams, and free writing, along with the moods and dates recorded with them.

Your settings, reminder schedule, and any push notification tokens registered for your devices.

Your encryption key material, which is what makes your entries readable. Note that the content of your entries is encrypted on your device before it reaches us, so we cannot read it even before deletion.

4. What we keep, and for how long

We do not keep purchase records of our own. Your account stores only whether Pause Pro is active, as a single yes-or-no flag, and that is deleted with everything else. The transaction records themselves are held by Apple, Google, and our payments provider RevenueCat, each under its own retention policy, and we cannot delete those on your behalf.

Crash reports are handled by Firebase Crashlytics and follow Google's retention for that service, roughly 90 days. They describe how the app failed, never what you wrote.

Residual copies may remain in encrypted database backups until those backups rotate out on their normal schedule.

Deleting your account does not undo a purchase. Pause Pro is bought once and belongs to your Apple or Google account rather than to your Pause account, so there is no billing to cancel — and if you install Pause again later, Restore purchases brings it back.
